Disney envisage (pas de décision prise pour le moment) un retour temporaire de Captain Eo à Disneyland pour la saison d'Halloween

Before then however, on September 25th the new Halloween fireworks will debut, and Nightastic will become an unfortunate memory not quite on the scale of Light Magic, but certainly not as successful as TDA had hoped. The big surprise for the spooky Halloween fireworks will be a flying Zero the dog, borrowing the cables for a few weeks from Tinkerbelle and Dumbo.

And of course there's the new Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy that TDA was forced to admit to in a huff after we alerted you to it. Ghost Galaxy will be using some of the special effects equipment installed back in 2006 for the failed Rockin' Space Mountain promotion, but there will also be new lighting and props installed along the track and in the loading area during the two week refurbishment this September. Once that new Ghost Galaxy equipment is installed and tested, future versions of Ghost Galaxy should only require a few days of rehab instead of two weeks.


Just in the past week, Disneyland President Ed Grier and his TDA planners have held a few meetings to consider another element for this year's HalloweenTime promotion; a return engagement of Captain EO to the Magic Eye Theater in Tomorrowland. This idea was of course prompted by the sudden death of Michael Jackson, and the waves of nostalgia Disneyland fans suddenly felt for that salute to 1980's music video kitsch. The decision on whether or not to bring Captain EO back for HalloweenTime has not yet been made, but TDA is now pulling together the numbers and feasibility on what it would take to give the theater a quick Captain EO overlay and retheme.




There's actually quite a bit of work that would need to go into this temporary changeover, with WDI approved signage and testing and training involved, not to mention the pesky issue of Kodak's sponsorship that mandates that Honey I Shrunk The Audience themed commercial to play in the waiting area.

But since attendance at this venue has plummeted in recent years to the point where it only hosts a tiny fraction of its daily capacity, a return of Captain EO would be a great shot in the arm for this almost forgotten facility. And of course there would be swarms of Annual Passholders flooding the park to see this attraction one more time.

Je sais pas, moi, à y réfléchir deux secondes, je trouve plutôt l'idée saugrenue pour ne pas dire affligeante... A moins qu'elle soit tout simplement risible...

C'est peut être pour la reine Alien qui fait bien plus peur que Chéri j'ai rétréci le public tout entier.

MJ adorait les trucs qui faisaient peur il me semble (Thriller, Ghost ...) Et l'actuelle MJ Mania est quasiment sans remarque désobligeante, donc bon, à la limite critiquer l'exploitation de l'engouement passe, mais y voir autant de vice je trouve ça tiré par les cheveux ...

Comme ça aurait fait plaisir à Michael Jackson! Dommage que, comme souvent, on attende que les gens soient morts pour leur rendre hommage...

Moi je trouve que c'est une excellente idée ! Forcément on y verra un côté opportuniste, ce dont je suis totalement contre en tant que grand fan de MJ. Mais tous les hommages qu'on a vu auraient pu avoir la même intention... Le coverage de son hommage au Staples Center et la vente du concert This is It en DVD, c'est certainement pour l'argent qu'ils le font, mais en attendant, c'est tout de même un bel hommage que personne ne raterait.

Bref, tout ça pour dire OWW OUIIII ! Mais... seulement pour Anaheim ? Parce que je serai à Paris pour octobre, donc ça m'aurait bien arrangé que ce soit pareil pour DLP... ^^"

C'est (presque) officiel!!

Captain EO has now received the green light to return to Tomorrowland, but the timing was too tight to make it by HalloweenTime. Hooter and the gang will now land at Disneyland this January to boost winter attendance, with the official announcement coming from Jay Rasulo at the D23 Expo.

Mdr c'est hallucinant quand même, faire renaître à Tomorrowland une attraction vieille de 23 ans. Encore un tour de force de Michael!

Perso, je me demande toujours si c'est une bonne idée. Certes, il y a l'aspect nostalgie.
Mais on se rendra surtout compte à quel point le film a vieilli, que ses effets spéciaux sont ringards et sa 3D complètement dépassée (même par rapport à Hista)
Ensuite, vont-ils remettre les effets 4D de l'époque: le laser, les étoiles en fibre optique dans l'écran, etc, qui ajoutaient beaucoup au film ?

Par contre, je pense que ça prouve qu'ils se rendent compte que mieux vaut mettre un vieux clip de MJ que de garder Hista, qui n'intéresse plus que 3 visiteurs aux Etats-Unis. Peut-être prendront-ils conscience que ce qu'il faut, c'est réaliser un nouveau film...

Je ne sais pas pour Disneyland, mais en Floride beaucoup de personnes se rendent encore à Hista...

La Californie fonctionnant sur un public de proximité, qui revient tous les ans, les gens délaissent beaucoup plus vite les attractions types films ou shhow, ce qui implique de devoir les changers plus souvent.
E, Floride, c'est pas vide, mais c'est pas bondé non plus. Et puis, Hista a quand même vieilli comparé à ce qu'ils pourraient faire aujourd'hui ! Ce film a quand même 15 ans et je ne comprends pas qu'ils ne fassent rien pour le changer, puisque le coût de production serait amorti sur 4 parcs !!!! L'investissement serait plutôt rentable.

C'est quand même osé cette renaissance!

Et que va-t-il y avoir après ce retour temporaire? HISTA 2 le retour?

C'est clair qu'après Captain EO, revoir HISTA va faire fuir les foules!! ^^

Je ne pense pas qu'HISTA reviendra (enfin j'espère pas), ça serait très étonnant que WDI n'ai pas d'autres projets pour cet emplacement... Sinon, petite info:

Honey I Shrunk The Audience will now be closed next week, Tues thru Thurs. WDI will be installing the Captain EO special effects to prepare the theater for Thur's private performance of the old show for Jay Rasulo and other bigwigs in Anaheim for the D23 Expo. Assuming Rasulo can find Tomorrowland (turn right in front of the castle) and no one in the audience has any objections to the show, Rasulo should then announce EO's January return during his Expo presentation on the 12th. - Al Lutz

Ca me semble un choix judicieux car temporaire. Juste le temps d'attirer un tas de visiteurs grâce à la popularité de MJ et de surfer sur la vague......par contre il faudra trouver un remplacement rapidement car une fois la mode Michael Jackson évanouie, la fréquentation risque d'etre digne d'HISTA.

Bref, si c'est pas trop cher à mettre en place ça pourrait constituer une bonne transition.
